Dr Prashanth Raju is an experienced Consultant Intervention Cardiologist at Kettering General Hospital. He has been involved in innovative service developments and was one of the first in the country to use the pioneering shockwave lithotripsy heart procedure in treating complex calcified coronary disease.

Education & Training

Dr Raju obtained Membership of Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) from Royal College of Physicians, London in 2006. He is dual accredited in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. His specialist postgraduate training in cardiology was undertaken in East Midlands region at Grantham, Derby, Glenfield and Lincoln Hospitals. Dr Raju was awarded Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2016 by General Medical Council (GMC), L .....

He undertook high volume coronary intervention during his Interventional Fellowship at highly renowned centre, Kettering General Hospital. Dr Raju’s training and experience encompass the length and breadth of Cardiology but with a special interest in all aspects of interventional Cardiology. Dr Raju’s practice comprises a broad spectrum of cardiac conditions and he specialises particularly in the management of ischaemic heart disease (angina and the prevention of heart attacks), percutaneous coronary intervention (routine and complex coronary angioplasty and stenting), the investigation of cardiac causes of stroke, hypertension, management of valvular heart disease and the treatment of heart failure. He also takes interest in the investigation of palpitations, dizzy spells, blackouts, chest pain and breathlessness.

In recognition of his services, Dr Raju has been presented with the Clinical Excellence Award by Kettering NHS Trust and he has featured in national ITV and BBC Radio Northampton interviews for new innovative approaches in treating heart conditions. Furthermore Dr Raju has received acclaim in various publications for his work, including Northamptonshire Telegraph Newspaper and The Daily Mail, the latter of which published a case study of one of Dr Raju’s patient’s titled “Me and My operation”.
