Colorectal Surgery

Gastrointestinal surgery involves any condition associated with the parts of the body involved in digestion. This includes Oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and rectum. It also includes liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.

Colorectal surgery involves mainly colon and rectum. This usually cause altered bowel habits, abdominal bloating or pain, passing blood in the stool, weight loss and sometimes anaemia as only presentation.

Rectum and anal conditions specifically may cause peri-anal itching, pain, and discharge.

To further  identify and evaluate any colorectal or gastrointestinal conditions, an  initial consultation followed by broad and specific investigations are needed such as blood tests, stools samples, camera tests (colonoscopy, gastroscopy) and radiological scans especially Ultrasound, CT and MRI.
